SDZ’s February Soror Spotlight shines on Bronx, NY native Sophia Owen-Allen!  Originally from Clarendon, Jamaica, Soror Owen-Allen is an alumna of Strayer University, holding a B.S. in Accounting and an MBA in Accounting from St. Leo University.  In 2007, Soror Owen-Allen was initiated into Zeta through Alpha Beta Zeta Chapter (Newport News/Hampton), and came to SDZ in 2016 via Eta Mu Zeta Chapter (Tacoma, WA).   

 

After completing a successful and fulfilling banking career, Soror Owen-Allen transitioned to working as an internal auditor and currently serves as a financial management analyst for the Department of Defense.  

 

Throughout her time in Zeta, Soror Owen-Allen has served in several capacities to include treasurer, assistant treasurer, budget and finance chair, and volunteering with the Peninsula Making Strides Against Breast Cancer committee.  Additionally, she was recognized at the 2023 Commonwealth of Virginia State Conference as one of the top fundraisers for Zeta in the Commonwealth for 2022-2023.  But there has been no position more important or proud than Soror Owen-Allen being able to enjoy her Zeta experience alongside her sister-in-law, Soror Allen-Stephenson, and two daughters.  

 

In her free time, Soror Owen-Allen loves catching up with family and friends along with tending to her garden and houseplants.  Also an admitted but unintentional speed walker, one is also likely to find Soror Owen-Allen walking through her neighborhood, at a local park, or at service events such as Making Strides Against Breast Cancer or March for Babies.  But dont blink because you just might miss her!
